Gloucester City Skittles

Welcome to the League 70th season

Some good news, for the first time in many years all those teams in the league at the end of last season have all re-registered for the coming season, however, it was sad to lose the current 8 time champions of the Premier Division Moody Blues Last Season, who withdrew from the league before a ball was bowled. However it did open the door for the other teams & it was Maisemore Hornets,  last years runners up who benefitted, winning the division by 45 points. They will now be the team beat if you any aspirations of winning the league, but they have moved alley & now play at the Naval Club, it will make for an interesting season as no Premier team has played there since the Tramps some 20 odd years ago.

Our congratulation to them & all the teams that won trophies last season.

Rockets from 1 East on winning the Hurran Cup, defeating the Lion Cubs  from the Premier . This being the third time in four years that a team from the premiership has failed to lift the trophy.

Maisemore Hornets winning the Section A front pin, defeating Hare & Hounds and Chequers winning the Section B trophy, defeating Hip Hips.

The winner of the Hubert Browning Trophy this season was Lee Morgan of St James Extras scoring 103.

Luke Hayward of Maisemore Hornets won the Howard Davis Trophy with an away average of 75.8 & Andy Brazington  of the Robins  won the Jeff Turner Trophy with an away average of 73.5.

There are very few away averages being returned to Bryan Fisher & as the saying goes you have to in it to win it. So all team secretaries PLEASE send in your top away average by April 31st, or lose your players the chance of winning the trophy.

There are still some alleys where the size of the diamond  is under the minimum requirements. Some of them are being revisited before the new season & the diamonds remarked to the required standard, however those that cannot be resized will still remain as per rule 3f.

I would like to thank all of the committee for their hard work & commitment during the season.

Again a big thanks to Hudson & Co. Sports Outfitters who are our main sponsor & all those that advertise their wares in our year book. Also to the Walls Club for their hospitality throughout the year.

On finishing I would like to wish all teams an enjoyable if not successful season
